Micaela Cockrum

Micaela Cockrum has been participating in the art program at Freedom High School since the beginning. She started with Art 1 in her freshman year, Photography in her sophomore year, Art 2 in her junior year, and finally AP studio art in her senior year. She chose to take a leap of faith by going from Art 2 to AP studio art, because she wanted the creative freedom to express her emotion and creativity freely.

Through the years, Micaela has been able to learn and develop new skills. She has also learned about what art style is her favorite. She prefers traditional art over digital. It’s really hard for her to choose between surrealism and cartoon style, so depending on what she’s trying to make, will affect the style of her art. One thing she learned about herself and her art, is that she will not submit anything until the art is perfect or as close to perfection as possible.

Micaela will be attending Liberty University in the fall of 2021, where she will major in Education with a concentration in Mathematics. She hopes to take more art classes throughout college to continue to develop her art skills.

Micaela would like to thank all of those who have supported her and her art through these past four years, especially her art teachers who have taught her so many new things and have shown so much kindness.
